Energy healing is a holistic approach to improving physical, emotional, and spiritual health. And our cats can also benefit from energy healing, which can help with anxiety, pain, and digestive problems. As a practitioner of the energy healing arts and living with cats, I have been witness to radical transformations in cats. A cat diagnosed with an advanced stage of kidney disease went on to live for many more years in comfort; another cat who was about to be put to sleep due to a heart condition is still living a happy life basking in the sun. Amadeus, a grey tabby who lived with me, was supported by energy healing in his final days and made the transition with a sense of grace and peace – weary in body but not in spirit.
Energy healing is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on balancing the energy fields in the body to promote healing. As an energy healing practitioner, I use an intuitive blend of Scalar Waves, Shamanic healing, Animal Reiki, and a few others, depending on what each cat needs. Let’s look at the principles of energy healing.
We are all made up of energy. If you have ever practiced Tai Chi or Qigong, you may have had a sense of the subtle energy flowing within you and around you. This Qi or Ki or Chi is our life-force energy. Energy medicine is also referred to as vibrational medicine because, in energy healing for cats, we work with the vibrational frequencies of this subtle energy layer.
Physical illness, injury, or emotional distress brings about a disturbance in the energy field. However, we often attempt to cure the physical symptoms, ignoring the underlying emotional and spiritual layers.
And it is unlikely that a cure will be effective until the energy field is brought back to harmony. Energy healing for cats involves activating the body’s natural healing energies and bringing about well-being.
I do this by cleansing, strengthening, and balancing their subtle energies. Once our feline friends’ overall system is back into a state of perfect equilibrium, also referred to as homeostasis, their natural healing capabilities are activated.
This is not a miracle cure, nor is it specific to any religion – it is simply how our systems function.
Cats, like most non-human animals, are much more attuned to the energy vibrations. For cats in the wild, their very survival depends on their ability to sense energies. Is it any wonder, then, that our house-tigers, too, have an in-built energy healing radar? Not only that, most cats are energy healers in their own right. They know how to work with the energies much better than us. Duchess, another of the healer cats who lived with me, had a habit of sitting next to me when I was recovering from an illness. Her presence had a healing effect on not just me but many others who have met her.
In today’s world, there is potential for holistic energy healing to work hand-in-hand with contemporary medicines and supplement them. Contemporary medical treatments are focused on symptoms with the objective of bringing quick relief. In comparison, energy healing can work on the underlying root cause and bring about a deeper, long-lasting healing across physical, emotional, and mental layers.
There are several types of energy healing that can benefit your cat’s health and well-being. Just as each human is unique, each animal is too. This is why I use an intuitive blend of energy healing techniques depending upon individual choices and needs. These are some of my favorites.
Cats love this earth-bound healing practice. The earth, the stones, the plants, the trees, the clouds – all of nature speaks to us and can be powerful healing allies. And cats are much more in tune with the rhythms of nature – something we must train to learn. In Shamanic Healing, I work in partnership with our nature allies. Shamanic Healing can reach beyond space and time and has been very effective in releasing old trauma or emotions that are often hidden beneath layers of survival mechanisms.
And from the world of ancient Shamans, I move to something which though ancient, was discovered as late as the 1900s by James Maxwell and later Nicolas Tesla. Scalar Wave harnesses the healing power of high vibrational frequencies meeting to create a standing wave. I rely on Scalar Wave for physical injuries and illnesses and when working with the senior cats. A cat hospitalized with bladder stones with an iffy chance of recovery was able to pass his stones and went back home within three days.
This simple yet profound energy healing for animals technique works for the highest healing good across physical, emotional, and spiritual layers. At times, when the root cause is not known, Animal Reiki can heal the root of trauma. I use Animal Reiki when a cat is in an extreme state of agitation or has lost trust in humans, or is dealing with trauma. The Let Animals Lead© method of Animal Reiki, which was founded by my teacher Kathleen Prasad recognizes all animals in their perfect primordial nature and allows the animal to choose how the session will flow and how s/he will allow the healing to occur.
In the Traditional Chinese Medicinal system, our bodies contain 12 meridians, and each is associated with an organ, a season, and an emotion. By tapping on some key points on our body that are associated with these meridians, we free up and release the underlying emotions. And, of course, it works amazingly well with our animal companions. I have used EFT to help new animals integrate into the household or when there is a behavioral challenge, such as excess exuberance and something often mistakenly perceived as aggression. EFT does wonders with the skittish kitties who will not allow any form of touch, as we can do the tapping using a surrogate.
Using simple breathwork, we can work with the five elements and the twelve meridians and bring about instant relaxation. I was introduced to this by my cat Duchess. In her final days, I would sit with her, and when her breathing got difficult, she allowed me to use remote breathwork to help her breathing get back to normal.
Besides these, there is a wide array of energy healing options for animals, including the use of herbs, nutrition, Bach Flower remedies, and bodywork techniques.
Energy healing can provide numerous benefits for our cats, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving immune function, and promoting physical healing. It can also help with behavioral issues, such as fearfulness and anxiety, and also deal with past trauma. By addressing imbalances in the body’s energy fields, energy healing can support your cat’s natural healing processes and help them feel their best.
Energy healing for cats works across the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our feline friends. Energy healing for cats can help:
• Accelerate recovery from injuries and acute illnesses;
• Free up emotional distress such as grief over the loss of a loved one;
• Establish and deepen the human-animal trust and bond;
• Remote check-in and support for your friend when you travel and must leave them with a sitter or at boarding;
• Support the aging process and help our senior animals live with increased mobility and zest; &
• Hold space for a peaceful transition
Willow, a semi-feral, was diagnosed with a heart condition. Being a semi-feral, it was near impossible to get her to the vet or ensure that she was taking her medicines regularly. Willow’s caregiver reached out in desperation, as without support, Willow did not have long to live. I worked with Willow for a month. In my intuitive sessions, Willow was able to communicate her need for personal time, and we reached an agreement on a way of administering medicines – which though less than ideal, helped in the long run. I continued intuitive energy healing sessions with Willow for a month. It’s been months now, and Willow continues to live a healthy life of her choice. Energy healing techniques such as Scalar Wave Healing work at a cellular level and accelerate recovery from physical illnesses and accidental injuries.
And then there was Mika, the skittish cat who, after multiple changes of humans, was finding it difficult to trust her new human and would simply not allow any form of human touch. With Mika, it was a story of energy healing for animals with EFT Tapping that helped free her blocked emotions. Today Mika is more loving and curls up next to her human when she is on Zoom calls, much to the amusement of other participants.
Remember that energy healing for cats works across physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual layers without needing to isolate them.
Cats are spiritual beings too. They come with their soul contracts and their soul-purpose. Sometimes, when a cat has been through physical or emotional trauma, they may find themselves isolated and disconnected from Source. Such cats may show signs of anxiety, fear, aggression, or sometimes a loss of interest in daily life. I use Shamanic healing practices that can heal the original wound without needing to analyze and re-live the experience. Such energy healing for cats can be a powerful tool and help our feline companions remember their soul’s calling and live life to their fullest potential.
This is the part I really love about energy healing. Energy healing works over geographical distances. You do not need to haul your cat off for another trip. Living with cats, I know that a trip inside that much-dreaded carrier can be a stressful event for our feline companions. And I have worked with cats around the globe, and the results are equally effective whether the cat is in Chicago or Bangalore or sleeping in the next room. Distant energy healing works because we are all energy, and we are interconnected. Recent research has started showing evidence that two subatomic particles can correlate even if they are kept miles apart. If this interests you, I have another article that has more.

Reading reviews and recommendations from others with animal companions can be a great way to find a reputable animal healer. Look for practitioners who have positive reviews and testimonials from satisfied clients. You can also ask for recommendations from friends or family members who have used the services of an energy healer in the past. And once again, please check if the person has also worked with cats or other animals.
The relationship between an energy healer and your animal companion is important. It is important to find a practitioner whom your animal companion feels comfortable with and who can build a rapport with your animal companion. Some energy healing practitioners offer a free consultation or a short session to help determine if they are a good fit for your animal companion. Take advantage of these opportunities to assess the practitioner’s compatibility with your feline friend before committing to a longer session.
Energy healing can be a great addition to your cat’s wellness routine, helping to promote relaxation, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve overall health and well-being. Some popular energy healing modalities for cats include Animal Reiki, Scalar Waves, and Shamanic healing. It is important to work with a qualified practitioner to determine the best approach for your cat’s individual needs and preferences. Regular sessions can help to maintain your cat’s physical and emotional health and may even help to prevent future health issues.
