4th of April 2010. I came out of a four-day silent retreat and switched on my phone. Eighteen missed calls and one chilling message — my cat Artemis was gone.
What followed were weeks of midnight walks through marshes with a food bowl, listening to squirrels chatter and wishing I could ask them where she was.
She never came home.
But she left behind breadcrumbs that she taught me to follow so that I could find my way back to her, beyond space and time. This is her way. This is the Way of Artemis.
Artemis left behind her companion Amadeus, who collapsed into grief. He stopped eating. He stopped drinking. And when the vet told me to prepare myself, I found Reiki. One single session. And I watched the light come back into his eyes.
In one afternoon, a grieving cat and an energy healing session showed me how much larger the world actually was. I walked through that door and never looked back.
Today I work with cats and dogs across countries, carrying the deep conviction that the bond between human and animal is one of the most sacred and underestimated forces on this earth.
