How I Almost Did Not Become An Animal Communicator (and what brought me back)

“To become an animal communicator, you don’t need a magical gift or endless stacks of course certificates, you just need the courage to get out of your head, trust your quiet intuitive hits, and practice out loud.”

I almost gave up on becoming an animal communicator before I had really begun. It happened during a classroom exercise involving a goat.

I was attending a Level 2 animal communication course at Joan Ranquet’s Communication With All Life University, and our teacher asked us to perform an intuitive body scan on one of her goats. The class was a mix of beginners and experienced communicators. One by one, people shared what they had received. One student described seeing a distinct white growth on the left side of the goat’s chest, somewhere between the second and third ribs.

I looked down at my own notebook. All I had written was: “There’s something going on in the chest.”

That was enough for me to decide I simply wasn’t cut out for this. I remember thinking, I’ll never receive information with that level of detail. I’m never going to become an animal communicator. It’s funny how quickly the mind reaches a verdict. Looking back now, I can smile at that moment. At the time, though, it felt painfully real.

Another Webinar Is Not The Answer

When we hit a wall on an intuitive path, our natural instinct is to blame our ability or go looking for more information. We sign up for another workshop or buy another book, hoping to find a missing key.

Here is the hard truth I had to learn: Confidence does not come from reading another manual or sitting quietly on a massive webinar.

If your goal is to truly become an animal communicator, you need practical reps in real time. You don’t build trust through theory; you build it by getting real-time, validated feedback in a supportive space.

When you practice in isolation, your mind will always win the argument. If you receive an image of a green tuna, your logical brain will dismiss it as a random, silly thought. But when you practice out loud and share that reading with the animal’s human, something shifts.

The human says: “Oh, he has a green fish toy that he carries everywhere.”

Suddenly, you have evidence. Each piece of real-time validation acts as a brick in the foundation of your confidence. It silences the internal skeptic because you can no longer tell yourself you made it up.

The Turnaround: Giving Yourself Permission to Learn

Even though I felt overwhelmed after that goat exercise, I stayed in the class. I loved animals, and I loved being in a space with people who cared about them. So, I kept showing up.

Because I kept showing up without the self-imposed pressure to be a prodigy, my intuitive language began to unfold naturally:

  • I realized that my information often comes through as words and direct knowing rather than vivid visual imagery.
  • I discovered that if I ever feel stuck during a connection, stepping away to dance or stretch for two minutes clears my energetic filter and lets the information flow.

Then came the turning point that changed everything.

The Cat Who Showed Me The Importance of Becoming An Animal Communicator

Not long after that goat exercise, a couple came to me in deep distress. Their cat had stopped eating. Every medical test had come back normal, yet the cat continued to deteriorate. They had been told there was nothing more that could be done and were beginning to consider putting her to sleep.

I started with energy healing, but I also became curious about what I was sensing energetically.

As I connected with the cat, I kept noticing dark patches around the lower abdomen. Over time I had learned that, in my own intuitive language, dark areas often pointed towards infection. More importantly, nothing about the cat’s energy felt like the end of life.

I said, “Before making any final decisions, would you be willing to get one more medical opinion?”

They did. The second veterinary team repeated the investigations and found a severe kidney infection that had been missed the first time.

It was treatable. That cat went home.

I have thought about that experience many times over the years. It was the moment I realized that I could never turn my back on animal communication – ever again. And if I had to help the animals, then I needed to put in all those hours of animal communication practice. It is the practice that was ingrained into me, that had been shaping me to become that animal communicator who can bring precision and specifics that matter into the readings.

Do Not Give Up On Your Dream of Becoming An Animal Communicator

If animal communication is a path that keeps calling you, don’t let comparison convince you that you aren’t good enough. None of us begin by receiving perfect readings. We begin by receiving one impression, then another, learning which ones to trust and which ones to question. The confidence comes later. It always does.

Looking back, I’m grateful I decided to continue and complete the course. All those hours of animal communication practice led me to know myself well-enough so that I could know how the language of animal communication comes to me.
